Shelved under Hambo Stamps

a-hambo-challenge.jpg  Well HI there!

I bet ya’ll thought I’d never update this blog..lol.  I’m real sorry for the absence, but it was necessary.  I have not stamped in nearly a week, but I’m starting to feel the itch again.

Today’s early submission is a Hambo Challenge.   Our challenge was to use one of Hambo’s ’signature’ stamps to create a card/project.  Now these stamps are generally used on the back of a card, but we wanted to show that they can be used on the card itself, too!

Shortly after getting the challenge handed down, I knew what I wanted to do.  I made this little truck card using various punches and alot of prayer that it would work out… heehee.   It is paper pieced together with various levels of dimension.

Here’s the deets:

Stamps:  How’s my Stamping by Hambo Stamps (www.hambostamps.com)

Colors:  Yo Yo Yellow, Basic Black, Real Red, Cool Caribbean

Ink: Versamark, black and white gel pens

Accessories: dimensionals, circle punches, scissors, corner rounder punch

I’ll be back later to link the other challenge cards as they get posted.   What a fun challenge….. thanks, Monica!

well-spent-thanks.jpg   Happy Monday, Ya’ll

Today’s Technique Lover’s Challenge was to use reinkers/ink pads to color your image.  I must admit, I’ve only tried this once before and I need a tutorial or something because it just looks wrong to me.   Although, I did use watercolor paper and I kinda like the way it looks, I had to put a bit of glitter glue in the middle of the flower as it was a mess. LOL  I duplicated the glitter glue on the butterfly’s wings.

Where have I been, you ask.   I took the weekend ‘off’, to get my affairs in order.   Life has thrown us a few curveballs lately and I was trying to juggle them…. leading to a near breakdown, but I got it under control and I’m just giving those curveballs to my Lord and Savior.  They’ll know what to do with ‘em ;)

Here’s my deets:

Stamps: Time Well Spent, make it count (both SU!)

Colors: Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Basic Gray Blush DP

Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Rose Red,

Accessories: ribbon, HPH clip, scissors, paintbrush, slit punch, glitter glue

dddt-challenge-outside.jpg    My oh My, it’s Friday again.

It’s that time again… the Dirty girls have posed a challenge to the group.  We were to make a patriotic card (our interpretation) and we were to decorate the inside and the envelope!

I knew I wanted to make this BBQ invite, in fact, I need to make 4 more, as we are having a small gathering (BBQ) here on the 4th.   I need to get these mailed TODAY!!   Nothing like waiting til the last minute..lol.

I knew this image from Hambo (www.hambostamps.com) was perfect and thanks to Monica for suggesting the little hamburger to go along with it!!   I don’t own any ‘invite’ sets, so I had to handwrite the inside and the “You’re Invited” sentiment.

Oh, and we were not allowed to use ribbon!!  The horror!! :)  Instead, I crimped a piece of blue paper to give just a little more texture.  I cuttlebugged the white piece with the bubbles EF, as it looks like tiny hamburger buns, to me!

Here’s my deets:

Stamps:  BBQ Man, Hamburger and ‘Summer’ sentiment by Hambo Stamps.

Colors: Brilliant Blue, GP White, Real Red

Accessories: brads, dimensionals, scissors, blue fine tip marker, cuttlebug, crimper

stay-cool.jpg ….. by the Pool!

I totally got into today’s Ways To Use It Challenge.. (ric rak).  I have been hoarding ribbons forever, but way in the back of my drawer, I knew I had this awesome string of star ric rak and had to use it.   This could be a pool party invite (only I don’t have a pool!)… heehee.

Ok, so I received a wonderful ‘care package’ from Monica at Hambo Stamps yesterday and I could NOT wait to ink up new rubber, so I picked out this adorable hippo sunbathing in his kiddie pool.  Since it’s almost summer, I chose red/white/blue combo, because that just makes me think summer!

Summer IS almost here, though the cool temps are keeping us inside most of the day.  Is the weather just too weird or what??  Hmmmm….

Ok, here’s my deets:

Stamps: Pool Hippo and Stay Cool by Hambo Stamps (www.hambostamps.com)

Colors:  Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, GP White, Real Red

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, White Craft, copics

Accessories: tiny brads, dimensionals, red and blue ric rak, white star ric rak,  swiss dots EF

Shelved under SCS Sketch Challenges

so-loved.jpg   Good Morning ;)

Today’s Sketch Challenge card is dedicated to my Granny (Alla Mae).   I just found out that my Granny is moving from Colorado (where she lives with my aunties), to Maryland (to live with my cousin).   Although it’s a scary thing… moving a 92 yr old away from her home, it’s a great thing for me as she will be MUCH closer to me.

Here’s what i did for this card.  First mat (Certainly celery) was aged with a little Tim Holtz Tea Bag distressing ink.  Second layer (Eggplant) was stamped with Hero Arts French Script.  Main panel - image stamped on Memory Box DP twice and the flowers buds were cut and mounted on the first with dimensionals.   I’m really diggin this card.  Can’t wait to send it off to my Granny!

Here are the deets:

Stamps: Roses by Anita’s; French Script by Hero Arts; Sentiment from So Very (SU!)

Colors: Basic Black, Certainly Celery, Elegant Eggplant, Ruby Red, Memory Box Dps

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, copics

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, scissors.  (I challenged myself again to NOT use scallops!)

Shelved under Color Combo Challenges

birthday-birdie.jpg  Aloha ;)

Thanks God for scraps, or i would have never been able to do this COLOR CHALLENGE this morning.   I searched my scraps and found just enough Kraft and Soft Sky to make it work.   After looking through my scraps this morning, I’m making a personal challenge to myself to use only scraps for the next few weeks.   I can hardly believe how many I have!

I’m having a bit of mojo problems today.  I like the colors, and all, I just had such a difficult time coming up with a suitable layout.  I know.. the horror!  I guess I need to spend more time looking through Galleries and blogs to see if anything catches my eye.  I’ve just been too busy lately to even think about it.

Here’s my deets:

Stamps: Anniversary birds by Verve Visual

Colors: Basic Black, Kraft, Soft Sky, Memory Box Dp

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, scissors (for paper piecing), cuttlebug EF

shimmery-birthday-wishes.jpg  Happy Monday, Ya’ll

Today’s technique challenge (shimmer and glimmer) kinda stumped me since I have no Perfect Pearls.  So, I got a little creative and used Pearlescent watercolors (silver), water and real red reinker.   We (my son is off today) sat here mixing the concoction for a good bit before we could finally get the silver specs to show up in the mist, but it worked!

Photography was a whole nother story,  I took 8 pictures and not one really shows the shimmer, so I guess you’re just going to have to take my word for it…. or ya’ll  can drop by and take a look :)

The main image was stamped in Versamark on Real Red, embossed in black detail, then colored with more pearlescent watercolors.  The whole thing really shines.  The 2nd and 3rd layers are on dimensionals, this creativing the inverted sentiment.

Here’s my deets:

Stamps: Cherry Blossoms by Rubber Stampede, Circle of Friendship by SU!

Colors: Real Red, Basic Black, Glossy White

Ink: White Craft, Versamark, Red reinker, pearlescent watercolors

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, paper piercing tools, circle punches, waterbottle, black EP

patchwork-friend.jpg  Good Morning!

It is a saucy morning here in Western New York.  Not so hot, but muuuuuggy!  I took the opportunity to spend some much needed time in the studio..  I apologize right off for not having a sketch yesterday, but I spent all day at an appointment that should have only taken an hour or so.   Yikes!

First, is my Inspiration card.   I had a tough time choosing which to go with and of course, I decided to DUPLICATE the toughest one.  Each little square (1.5″ x 1″) is embossed with the image and aged with Tim Holtz tea bag distressing ink.  I got a headache trying to figure out the math…. so I called on my 15 yr old to do it for me :)

Here’s the deets:

Stamps:  Oh, So Lovely and Fancy Flexible phrases (SU!)

Colors: Really Rust, Garden Green, River Rock, Summer Sun, Basic Black

Ink: Versamark, prisma pencils, Brilliance Graphite Black, Tim Holtz tea bag distressing ink

Accessories: ribbon, dimensionals, oval punches, copper EP, stipple brush.

Ok, now for the sketch challenge!

Here is our sketch this week (THSC17):

thsc17.JPG   As usual, it’s a suggestion… flip it, embellish, whatever it takes!  This is not a contest… just some fun :).   Per Marisa’s request, I went super easy this week.   Have fun, Marisa :)

Here’s my card for the sketch:

one-and-only.jpg  I went with Bronc Buster as I have only used this set ONCE and have a tough time justifying that.  I need to either use my sets more or start moving them off my shelves and into the sell pile.

Here’s my deets on this one:

Stamps: Bronc Buster, Starstruck (SU!)

Colors:  Chocolate Chip, Mello Moss, Cosmo Cricket DPs (oh so yummy!)

Ink: Chocolate Chip

Accessories: star brads, chocolate velvet ribbon, circle punch, star punch, ticket corner punch, slit punch, dimensionals

knotty-smiles.jpg  TGIF!!

Goodmorning!   I’m beginning to think that the person who hid my swiss dots on me has also sucked out my creativity.  I had a heck of a time doing today’s Limited Supply Challenge.   I probably shouldn’t even call this limited, but for me it is.

Ok, so I’m loving the colors I used and the ‘concept’, but the final outcome….eh, not so much.  I don’t usually use so much ‘white space’, but I wanted to try.   This would have pleased me a whole lot more if i owned the SU! scallop punch.   The marvy scallop punch just doesn’t work as well with So Many Scallops.   Ok, enough of my complaining..lol.

My ‘Knots’ are pretty simple, but I gussied them up a little with the wee watercolor leaves.   Hey, this is almost a SUO card!

For those of you waiting on a sketch challenge this week, it will be a little late.   I have to get to an appointment early, but I promise to post by early afternoon.   Please check back!

Here’s my deets:

Stamps:  So Many Scallops, Wee Watercolors, Small Sayings (all SU!)

Colors:  GP White, Pink Passion, Yo Yo Yellow

Ink: Pink Passion, Green Galore

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, scallop punch, oval punch, circle punch, designer label punch.

TFL!~ and have a blessed day.

life-journey.jpg Suprise, suprise!

I was so not going to do today’s challenge.  Not because it’s uncool or anything, but i have a really busy day ahead.  Then I saw the challenge.  I have a large stack of pictures taken in Colorado that I never know what to do with… well I think I found the perfect one!

Here’s what I did… first layer (River rock) is cut with my rotary cutter, giving it a neat edge.. then I took a piece of Hambly grid acetate and popped that over the top.  My main image is popped on top of that.  A whole lotta dimension going on here :)

I’m pleased as punch how it turned out.  I adore these colors together :)   I think this would make a great card for a man going on a journey (trip).

Here’s my deets:

Stamps: Sentiment by Delta

Colors: Basic Gray, Basic Black, River Rock, hambly grid acetate

Ink: White craft

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, photo, hole punch

TFL!~ and have a blessed day!
