~Stay Cool…~
June 19th, 2008 by Holly McMillen
I totally got into today’s Ways To Use It Challenge.. (ric rak). I have been hoarding ribbons forever, but way in the back of my drawer, I knew I had this awesome string of star ric rak and had to use it. This could be a pool party invite (only I don’t have a pool!)… heehee.
Ok, so I received a wonderful ‘care package’ from Monica at Hambo Stamps yesterday and I could NOT wait to ink up new rubber, so I picked out this adorable hippo sunbathing in his kiddie pool. Since it’s almost summer, I chose red/white/blue combo, because that just makes me think summer!
Summer IS almost here, though the cool temps are keeping us inside most of the day. Is the weather just too weird or what?? Hmmmm….
Ok, here’s my deets:
Stamps: Pool Hippo and Stay Cool by Hambo Stamps (www.hambostamps.com)
Colors: Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, GP White, Real Red
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, White Craft, copics
Accessories: tiny brads, dimensionals, red and blue ric rak, white star ric rak, swiss dots EF
TFL!~ and have a blessed day!
See, it pays to hoard ribbon – you never know when you are going to need it – LOL 🙂 Love the image – made me think of a time when I gave the kids some juice in the kiddie pool one summer day and they were so thrilled.
Yay – so glad you received your stamps Holly. What a fun summertime card! I wish there was room in that pool for me!
I’m such a big fan of your work. As I was looking at some of your latest cards (especially the beauty that you are sending to your Grandmother) I was wondering how you mail these many-layered cards so that they don’t get crushed.
Thanks,
Rita
teehee, LOVE this new image. No wonder you couldn’t wait to ink it up. Soooo cuuuuuuute!
Dear Holly
rediscovered your blog in my favorites and am yet again blown away by your creativity. I have gone back to Feb so far today and look forward to returning to complete my journey. Each card is abundant with detail, yet you break it down to be “eezy peezy”. I am impressed by the use of punches and embelshiments and the way you add just one more thing without making it garish. As I look at each card I discover more and more detail yet the whole card is simple to look at and never too busy. I am drawn in yet not overwhelmed and believe I can do the same. Thanks for sharing God’s gift with I too can develop my own creativity and style
blessings in abundance
