~Another Dirty Challenge~
June 20th, 2008 by Holly McMillen
It’s that time again… the Dirty girls have posed a challenge to the group. We were to make a patriotic card (our interpretation) and we were to decorate the inside and the envelope!
I knew I wanted to make this BBQ invite, in fact, I need to make 4 more, as we are having a small gathering (BBQ) here on the 4th. I need to get these mailed TODAY!! Nothing like waiting til the last minute..lol.
I knew this image from Hambo (www.hambostamps.com) was perfect and thanks to Monica for suggesting the little hamburger to go along with it!! I don’t own any ‘invite’ sets, so I had to handwrite the inside and the “You’re Invited” sentiment.
Oh, and we were not allowed to use ribbon!! The horror!! 🙂 Instead, I crimped a piece of blue paper to give just a little more texture. I cuttlebugged the white piece with the bubbles EF, as it looks like tiny hamburger buns, to me!
Here’s my deets:
Stamps: BBQ Man, Hamburger and ‘Summer’ sentiment by Hambo Stamps.
Colors: Brilliant Blue, GP White, Real Red
Accessories: brads, dimensionals, scissors, blue fine tip marker, cuttlebug, crimper
TFL!~ and have a blessed day~
Your card and envy are adorable! I love it in the RWB colors too. Looks like a fun time to be had!
Great card…love the layout!
LOVE what you did with the challenge. Love the BBQ theme in the patriotic colors!
Oh Holly, this is too cute. I actually laughed out loud as this could be my hubby on the card. He is a wonderful cook (lucky for us as my cooking is far from good!) and is a mean BBQer too. Like how you have his hat cut out of the box. A very welcoming invitation 🙂
Great RW&B, layout and lots of wonderful details as always. Well done with the crimping in lieu of the ribbon too.
Do we get a sketch this week…..know the BBQ invites are first and foremost so no worries if not, just thought I’d ask.
what a great idea! I can’t imagine anyone turning down a cookout after getting a sweet invitation like this! Beautiful l/o and design – love the crimped cs and colors! NJ!
