~A Hambo Wednesday/Challenges~
November 19th, 2008 by Holly McMillen
It is all about the Ham today! First off, there was a throw down challenge given to us by Monica at Hambo Stamps, to create a Christmas type card/project without using Christmas stamps.
Well, I don’t know about you, but Black Friday is HUGE in my family. The aunties work at Wal*Mart and every black friday, they get up at like 3am and get ready for the biggest shopping day of the Christmas season. So, taking that into note, I decided to make my one auntie a little milk carton (Beate’s design) for her to save for the big day :).
You can see all the other challenge entries on the design team blogs:
I had alot of fun with this… first off, the milk carton is so easy to make….. Beate is an intructor extraordinare! I wrote my own sentiment 🙂
Here are the deets on my Black Friday Milk Carton:

SC203 ~ Designer Snowmen ~
Today’s Sketch Challenge was a tough one for me. I knew I wanted to do this card, but wasn’t sure my idea would work, but I’m likin’ it!
My ‘designer snowmen’ are stamped on Basic Grey Wassail paper, then stamped again on GP White and parts are paper pieced onto the designer paper. I am so loving this new BG Wassail paper, except the colors match retired SU! colors and I’m running low! 🙁
The layers are stippled with a little Chocolate Chip ink and nearly all are layered on dimensionals as I am almost out of adhesive! Oh the horror…. means I have to go shopping today 🙂
Here are the deets on my card:
Stamps: Snowmen by Hambo Stamps; Let it Snow sentiment by Hambo Stamps
Colors: True Thyme, Cranberry Crisp, Creamy Caramel, GP White, Basic Grey Wassail
Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Copics, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: big white brads, ribbon, dimensionals, circle punch, designer label punch, curvy label punch, scissors, stipple brush

Update on Marci:
She had a good day yesterday and we even got out and did a little shopping. Wearing the mask is irritating her, but she is a trooper and will continue to fight. Thanks again for all the prayers!
TFL and have a blessed day!
What a fun idea Holly! I’ve never seen one of those milk cartons — how cute! Great job on the DT challenge.
And I completely love your designer snowmen too. Your use of layers always amazes me. Your projects are awesome!
Love your SC card Holly. Having the snowmen cut out and on the DP is great and your layered sentiments are always wonderful. Great job! I’m stumped on this one for now — my one creative gene has checked in for therapy LOL!
Love the carton too, and the pig’s sash is priceless 🙂
Glad to hear your aunt Marci had a better day, and I’m thrilled she was out and about – I just love her spirit. Please give her a hug for me.
Very clever, indeed! Great idea and ever so cute.
The milk carton is really cute, Holly! Love the image and sentiment! I just got some of the Wassail papers and they’re beautiful! Love the snowmen card. Your layering is always so pretty!
I’m happy to hear your Aunt felt up to getting out and going shopping with you!
