~ Have A Cool Yule ~

punchy-santa.jpg  Ok, so I made my 3rd Featured Stamper card of the day because it felt so good to stamp and create!   Not only did I get four Christmas cards made this morning, and a 5th and 6th tonight, but we mopped floors, scrubbed bathrooms and cleaned until our wee fingers are about to fall off.   I am exhausted, but I sure feel good!

So here’s the deal on Santa here….. I was at stamp camp with Cindy (Mothermark) the other night and we made these little santa candy bar covers using the SU! three flower punch.   Well, I don’t own a three flower punch, but I sure thought santa was adorable, so I went to work making this little guy.

I first punched the face out of blush blossom using my smallest scallop circle punch.   Then I punched another in white (beard) and used a 1 3/8″ punch to cut out where his face shows through.   Following?   I know….. I should take pictures, but when I’m creating, paper flies in all directions like Edward Scissorhands cutting hair.   Anyway, next I punched a scalloped square out of Real Red and cut it in half (it was still too big, so I cut about 1/4″ off the bottom of the 1/2 piece).   I used the word window punch in white for his hat brim.   The 1/2″ circle punch in white for his hat topper….. and a 1/4″ hole punch in basic black and pink pirouette for eyes and nose.   He then needed a moustache.    I punched my round tab punch out of white,  turned the punched piece sideways and put it back into the punch to create the moustache.  Voila!  Punchy Santa.

Oh, but wait, there is more!    I decided after I finished this card that I could definitely make him more interesting….. afterall, he looks like Santa, but he’s kinda plain………… so we went here:

have-a-cool-yule.jpg   When I used a scallop oval punch for beard and face, you get Santa meets Jerry Garcia!   I gave him sunglasses and rosey cheeks this time and I think I’m once again in love with the fat man in a red suit :).

Same punch procedure, only this time with the ovals.   What do you think?   Which do you like better??   I know which one is my fav!

rudy-christmas-ornament.jpg   Ok, I really should go to bed instead of editing my blog post every hour, but I was sleepless and surfing SCS and came across a card made by Tosh.    She got this idea from a blog post by Taylor (Taylored Expressions) and I just had to try it.   I’ll be darned if it didn’t turn out way cute!    Check out Taylor’s blog for step by step instructions.

I know this little guy is going to end up on a card tomorrow! 🙂

Thanks for the instructions on the Santa, but WOW, you were with Cindy — how close are you to her — HOW FUN!!! Oh my gosh, I CAN NOT imagine being in the same room with the both of you — OH MY GOSH!!!!

Great Santa creations, Holly. I’m not sure I can pick which one I like better. Think it is the round scallops, but then the shades are great lol. You have been one busy lady – think the creative juices are a flowing 🙂

Love how you did the ribbon on the oval Santa and the oval punch sentiment is great. Love the MS border punch on the top one — I’ve been trying to stay away from that one but now I’m going to have to think twice about it…maybe I’ll get one of my unsuspecting family memebers to give it to me for my b-day in January lol, but not until I get that lace border punch first!! Martha is going to bankrupt me!!! Also think SCS should get royalties on her sales as I’m sure many of us see them on SC for the first time and go out and get them – know I have.

Trust you had a sound sleep after such a busy day!! Keep those beauties coming!!

Love the Santa cards, Holly! The mustache is really fun! I like the one with the ovals a little better, I think! The sunglasses, threaded ribbon and sentiment are great!

Oh, your Santa cards are FABULOUS!! I LOVE BOTH OF THEM!! If you get a chance, could you share the dimensions of the scalloped punches you used (the round scallop circle for the round santa’s face and beard, and the two sizes of scalloped ovals for the “Cool Yule” santa’s face and beard)? I’d really appreciate it!! Thanks for the inspiration!! Judy
