punchwork-penguin.jpg   Happy Saturday 🙂

I am often asked, “Who is your inspiration?”….. well, I have a complex kind of answer.   First and foremost, God.   You see, in my opinion, He is the original creator of all art.    Have you ever checked out the Hubble Telescope site?   If not, you really should.   Anyone who doesn’t believe in God after looking at those pictures… well, they are just mistaken. IMHO!!

I am also inspired by just about every single person on SCS.   The way this one does one thing, or the way that one uses a color scheme.   Lastly, I am highly inspired by nature.   Living here in Colorado has brought me a whole new potload of inspiration.   From the gorgeous Rockies to the evening sunsets.    No doubt, we made the right move.

Ok, so on to my IC cards for today.   This first one, which is really my 2nd one, was a study in punchwork.   I wanted to achieve a ‘negative’ effect with my snowflake punch, so I got the punch out, measured it across and marked off where I needed to punch on the black overlay.   I was just flippin’ amazed that it worked.. LOL.   The white mat is only cuttlebugged at the bottom so the negative of the snowflakes is flat (where I added 1/2 pearls).

I have to digress for a moment.  I am a little OCD.   I have been using the heck out of my 1/2 pearls lately and I can’t stop.   HELP!   I received them as a gift from Vicki (justcrazy) earlier this year and I hoarded them for awhile.   Now, not so much….lol.   I still owe Vicki a big thank you for hooking me up.

Anyway, here is the piece I chose for inspiration on this one.    I didn’t have an owl stamp, wish I did, but I thought the penguin made a good substitute.

 And my deets are………… :

Stamps:  Penguin by Wal*Mart; Sentiment by Hero Arts

Colors:  Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss, GP White

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Copics

Accessories: 1/2 pearls, ribbon, MS snowflake punch, scissors, small scalloped circle, snowflakes EF, dimensionals

Oh, but wait, there is more!

inspired-butterflies.jpg     Did this one late last night just as Stef posted the IC.    I chose this piece for inspiration.

I have really been playing with my punches alot… to see what I can do with them besides just punching shapes.    But, you may be happy to know that I have finally ordered some nestabilities!   I am going to give them a try.   I keep thinking something ‘new’ will come along, so why order something that I already have (scallops), but then I saw the nestabilities “pinkies” and fell in love.   They are on their way to me right now!

Ok, so deets on this one:

Stamps:  There She Goes’  Friendship Flowers

Colors:  Chocolate Chip, GP White, Cool Caribbean

Ink : Brilliance Graphite Black, copics

Accessories:  scalloped circle punches, oval punches, MS butterfly punch, fiskars border punch, 1/2 pearls, scissors, dimensionals

You never know…. with the inspiration pieces Stef has given us today, I may be back for more….. stay tuned.

TFL and have a blessed day!

Great cards, Holly. Love the negative snowflake effect on the first one. The second card is my favorite. I love that colour combo and the border punch is fabulous! Like how you punched out the scalloped piece of the panel to match the scalloped circles and the pearls are lovely – not to mention the use of my favorite MS butterflies 🙂 Great job on both!

    Hi,
I just stumbled upon your blog site. I have enjoyed looking at all of your creations. Has anyone mentioned that your photos are really small? My old eyes got tired, but I kept looking cause you really do have a nice blog.

Both cards are wonderful, Holly! I love the negative snowflakes and the punched ones with the cute penguin! I’ve always admired your layering and you’re doing such neat things with the punches, too! I LOVE the *bite* you made on the strip with the scalloped punch and the border with the pearls is gorgeous! Thanks for all your wonderful inspiration!
