~Sleep…. just Sleep~
January 12th, 2009 by Holly McMillen
GOOD morning!!!!
Yahoo!! I slept like a baby last night! I did not get up until nearly 7am… just in time to take my son to school. Good thing, too, cuz it snowed a bit last night and making him walk the 2 + miles to school would have been rather cruel.
Ok, so I got him off to school and first thing I did (after getting a cup of coffee!) was check the challenge for today. The challenge is to make this origami box (and optional lid)… Well, I love origami. No problem, right? Wrong! First, I could not decipher the instructions… it seemed to me that they missed a few steps as I had to do much more folding that was shown in the steps. But, now that I know, it really is a no-brainer box. I only have one thing to say…. I could have made the same box with less paper much easier! LOL… and I probably will :). I do like the lid. The box, in all, is very nice.. sturdy and handy size, but I think I will make another a little smaller for all the little things I have laying on my desk. Oh, and I also have a problem with my lid… my design flaw, likely. It will not stay tightly down. I may have to reinvent that wheel.
Ok, so for the box:
and another angle…..
You can find the instructions for this box by following this link….. I won’t repeat them here unless I change something (which is likely!):

~Wild Rose Gift/Card Box~
Ok, so I have been working on this little box, based on a project I had seen while blurfing the other day (blurfing: blog surfing). I cannot remember the blog I was on and for the life of me cannot find it, so If you know, please let ME know….but the box is so different than what I saw, I am not hesitating to post. Let’s just say I was ‘inspired’.
What we have here could be used as gift box or a card box as it holds about 6 of my chunky cards and envelopes. It is a basic box bottom (like I always make!), with an acetate lit (that fits down inside the box (like the old Christmas card boxes). Then I made a topper so I could decorate it… but you could also just make a belly band. Anywho, here are some pics…. if you REALLY want me to do a tute, just hollah and I will get around to it in a day or so.
Here we have it ‘empty’…..
And here with cards inside:
Deets:
Stamps: Wild Rose DD, God’s Way
Colors: Basic Black, Purely Pomegranate, Pretty in Pink, Kiwi Kiss, GP White, Basic Grey dp, Acetate
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, Purely Pomegranate, Brilliance Graphite Black
