Good Morning, Ya’ll 🙂

Well it is the 20th again and the DD/DDA are throwing down a new challenge for the month of January.

Here is the lowdown:

Challenge Focus: A Valentine’s Day/Love-y Dove-y card!!

Required Element: Texture!! Anything you can *feel* (ie: Fun Flock, Crystal Effects, Embossing/Debossing, velvet ribbon…and I am sure there are a million more things that I cannot think about!!)

Restricted Element: No RED!! Pink is ok…but no red…let’s see what other colors we can use for Valentine’s Day!

I was tempted to go with some lavendar, but it wasn’t workin’ for me.    I dug around in my stash and found this gorgeous piece of dp by My Mind’s Eye that I have been hoarding.   It is cardstock weight and embossed, so I decided to make a little giftie box with it.    The box has an acetate lid and a belly band.

Then I remembered Jodi’s challenge specifically said “card”, so I whipped up a little 3 x 3″ card to go with the box.   I used apiece of scrap from the box for the card front …. punched a heart (MS embossed heart punch) and printed up a sentiment to go underneath.   Do you know, I have like two valentine sentiment stamps?!    I am loving my new printer/scanner for that reason… whenever I need a sentiment…. just type it up and print!

Stamps:  Uhhhhhh……. none!

Colors:  Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Kraft, My Mind’s Eye Embossed DP, Acetate, Gold

Ink: None!

Accessories: gold 1/2 pearls, pink velvet ribbon (texture!); MS embossing heart punch, scoring blade, sticky tape,  printer (for sentiment); dimensionals.

This morning’s color challenge is to use Bravo Burgandy, Regal Rose and Kiwi Kiss.   Wonderfully lush colors, I think!   I have not pulled out Bravo Burgandy in so long that it took me a bit to even find it!     I even combined this week’s MFT sketch challenge (MFTSC64)  with it :)….   I love making cards where all the decisions are already made for you.. hehehe.

I received some new Shimmerz paints from Kim at My Favorite Things.    I used them today on the carrot (marigold) and the carrot top (celery).    I am finding it difficult to photograph the shimmerz, though… so it is very hard to tell, but they are really sparkly!
