~ Just Another Brick in the Wall ~
January 17th, 2010 by Holly McMillen
Good evening, Friends!
As I write this, my eyelids are drooping. It has been a long long day. My studio looks as if a whirling dervish went through it. For the last few days I have been on a tear to get samples done for one of my design teams that is going to CHA next week. It seems that every time I sat down to work on something an urgent matter would crop up elsewhere.
From the moment I agreed to take on the Technique Challenge on SCS, I have been compiling a list of techniques to try. The one I picked for today (brick wall ~ by Birgit aka Biggan on SCS) looked easy enough. Birgit wrote a fantastic tutorial on the technique and even did a video. I still had issues. I think, mainly, because my mojo is worn out!My issues came when I was trying to line up the ”bricks”. On the third try, I got it right! It’s still slightly off, but I don’t care! LOL
What I ended up doing was, I cut a piece of cardstock about 2/3rds of the size of my image and I lined that with redline tape. Then as I cut the pieces, I squared them up against the bottom edge of the cardstock piece. It worked pretty well. The only thing was, there were little ”cracks” between my pieces. I covered my entire image in black embossing powder and shook everything off. The embossing powder stuck in the cracks like grout. Then I heat set it.
Here are my deets:
Stamps: Artful Inkables’ Wedding Silhouettes
Colors: PTI White, Basic Black, designer paper
Ink: Versafine Black Onyx
Accessories: Ribbon, charm, hole punch, swiss dots embossing folder, ruler, sharpie, sticky tape, eyelet border punch.

Oh, one last thing. Do you ever feel like you are stuck using the same tools/accessories on cards? I am stuck in a rut with the eyelet border punch. Someone please come take it away!! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you will hop over to the Challenge forums on SCS and join us for this technique challenge!
Hugs,
Holly
