Hi Friends 🙂

Life is so funny.   After I finished my project for this week’s Technique Lovers Challenge, I have to say I was quite pleased with myself.   It was a difficult design and nearly kicked my butt, but I prevailed.    Then I was poking around on facebook and found the webpage of a young artist who is from the town my husband grew up in.   The amazing art that I saw just brought me to my knees.   This young man has a gift that exceeds anything I have or could ever do.   Humbling.

I love to read.  Most all of my friends and family love to read.  So this week, our challenge is to make a card that includes a bookmark.   There are several ways of accomplishing this…. with a attached bookmark (preforating blade), as an insert or as an attachment.

For mine, I stamped my image on vellum and then on white cardstock.   I lined up the area I needed and cut them.   I colored the back of the vellum and the image on cardstock.   They are assembled with dimensionals in between.   I then stamped the image again on cardstock and lined it up  so that the images matched, then cut and matted that piece for the bookmark.

The bookmark itself slides into the front just behind the vellum.   When you pull it out, the image beneath shows through.

Here are my deets:

Stamps:   Floral stamp (unknown maker ~ purchased several years ago at a small stamp shop on Long Island); Sentiment from SU!’s Mini Mates.

Colors: Basic Black, Summer Sun, Basic Gray, GP White, Vellum

Ink: Versafine Black Onyx, copics, black sharpie, Tim Holtz’ black soot distressing ink

Accessories: Yellow Satin Ribbon from Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, Kaisercraft black 1/2 pearls and white 1/2 pearls, ribbon scraps, HPH frame, butterfly punch, border punch,  embossing folders, dimensionals, sticky tape

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you’ll come on over to the challenge forums on SCS and join us!   Have a blessed day!

Hugs,

Holly

This is really pretty! I like that the card is still a full card after the bookmark comes out too.
