Hello friends!

Have you ever sat down to make a card that you already have designed in your head and no matter what you do, it just falls way short of that picture in your head?   Ok, so today was that day.

I got a message from Cookie (StampGroover on SCS) the other day about doing this challenge ~ to make a shadow box, of sorts.   Not the same Shadow Box Cards that we did a few years ago, but more of a popped up frame around your image.   I put it on my “to do” list and since I spent the majority of today out in the sun, I decided this would be a quick and easy technique challenge for today.   And then the mayhem began…..

I stamped my image twice.   I wanted one to be cut close to the borders so I could use it as reference for the cut out on my frame.   Well, I cut it out and within seconds, it disappeared from my desk.   Ten minutes of searching (and a lot of muttering under my breath), and no image.   So I stamped it again.   Then when I went to cut out my frame, I measured wrong.  Ugh.   Cut again.

I first tried stamping the small sand dollar image on the background but it just wasn’t what I had envisioned, so back to the drawing board.   Ok, so I crumpled the background up real good and highlighted it with ink.   Yeah, ok… not what I wanted either, but it would do.

Lastly, as I was assembling my pieces and putting the card front on the base, I realized that I had cut the base just a wee bit too big!  What is up with that?!   Oy!   So, for all the grief the card gave me, I am not totally happy with it, but I do like the frame and that was the whole point, right? 🙂

Here are my deets:

Stamps:  Our Craft Lounge Treasured Friend

Colors: Always Artichoke, creamy caramel, GP White, Bashful Blue

Ink: Versafine Black Onyx, copics, Tim Holtz’ distressing inks in tea bag and antique photo

Accessories: Jute, oval punch, scalloped oval punch, sponge, dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you’ll pop over to the challenge forums on SCS and join our challenge!   Blessings!

Your persistence paid off, Holly. Just love the feel of this card. The crumpled paper and the twine around the frame matching with the knotted twine in the corner. I have a gremlin in my area that swipes things on me too LOL!

I wish I had an idea in my head of a card when I started LOL! Happens every once in a while and even a bit more than it used to so all you talented ladies out there must be rubbing off on me 😀

Thanks for popping into my blog and leaving a comment today. What a wonderful surprise it was = especially after the grief involved in the process of figuring out that colour combo!

I had to laugh reading this as I had just sent you a message about how much I loved your card, love your style! The crimpled green looks like water to me. The whole card just screams style and beauty. If I could do that on my best day I would be happy.

This is gorgeous, Holly. I know what you mean, though. It makes me nuts when that happens.
