A Triple Whammy
October 11th, 2010 by Holly McMillen
Good day, friends 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends! Â Hope you saved some turkey for us Americans :). Â I’m a bit jealous as I’ve been craving dressing and pumpkin pie, lately.
Today I am going to show you what happens when I try too hard. Â I wanted to play in both the There She Goes weekly challenge (to use Kraft base, black and white with a splash of color; and some dry embossing). Â I also wanted to try Joan’s Technique Challenge for today (double stampin’~). Â So I hoped over to the Monday Mojo blog and grabbed their sketch so it would be easy, right? Â WRONG!
First, I had a dickens of a time with the spritzing the watercolor paper and then stamping. Â My image came out looking like a blur, no matter what I tried. Â I think my image was too small for the area, too. Â But, I stuck with it and went to assembling. Â GAH. Â Kept looking my pieces on my desk and I think I lost at least four 1/2 pearls as they kept popping off the sheet and flying away. Â OY.
I persisted. Â I DO love the colors. Â I do like the layout. Â I want to master the technique, but now I’m tired…LOL
Here are my deets:
Stamps: Â There She Goes’ The Journey and There She Goes’ You’re a Hoot (sentiment)
Colors: Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Watercolor White, Bermuda Bay, DP
Ink: Bermuda Bay and Tim Holtz Antique Photo
Accessories: Bermuda bay polka dotted grosgrain ribbon, 1/2 pearls, swiss dots embossing folder, slit punch, sticky tape, dimensionals, word window punch, hole punches, tiny white grosgrain, spritz bottle.

Thanks for stopping by today! Â I hope you enjoyed your visit :).. Â Hope you’ll stop back to morrow as I have something special to share!
Hugs,
Holly
Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes 🙂 I’m stuffed like the turkey was and going to have to head out for a walk 🙂 LOVE that colour combo and your persistence paid off. You have used the sketch fabulously and I just love all the pearls – such a gorgeous colour too. I can relate to the flying version of them too LOL!
Gorgeous Holly!!
Holly, your color combination is gorgeous! Love that ruffled ribbon and those elegant blue pearls. All those fabulous details certainly make your card a real stunner!
