~ Make it Shimmer ~

Hi friends!

I cannot believe it’s been nearly a week since I’ve blogged anything.   There has been a flurry of activity here and by the looks of this week’s schedule, it’s going to be similar.   Life just keeps coming at me! 🙂

It was nearly noon Sunday before I remembered I needed to do something for the Technique Lovers Challenge.   Luckily I had a cool technique bookmarked that is not only a lot of fun to do, it’s also super cool!

I was over on Lisa Spangler’s blog (Sideoats and Scribbles) when I came across this tutorial HERE.   It doesn’t really have a name, so we’re going to call it shimmer stamping or acrylic block stamping if you like! 🙂

Here is my result:

Now, let me let YOU learn from my initial fail.  On my first attempt, I tried mixing the pearl ex in the water bottle that I used to spritz the block.  That didn’t work very well, so I dumped (and I do mean dumped) a glob of pearl ex onto the wet block.  Uh, that was TOO much.   So I watered that down a bit and got my final result which I am very pleased with even though it is very tough to photograph.

I guess you’ll just have to trust me, but he really does shimmer!

Here are my deets:

Stamps:  Our Craft Lounge Under the Mistletoad

Colors: GP White, Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Cloud 9 dp, retired SU dp

Ink: Pretty in Pink, Versafine Black Onyx

Accessories: 3/8″ pink gingham, pink and green rhinestones, pearl ex, stardust stickles, spray bottle, paintbrush, watercolor pencils, sticky tape, dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by!  If you get a chance, pop over to the challenge forums on SCS and play along!

Hugs,

Holly

Oh how cute is this! That frog is adorable. Wonderful sketch. And I love that gingham ribbon with the dotted paper.
