~ Same, But Different ~
April 17th, 2011 by Holly McMillen
Hi friends,
I’m posting tonight’s Technique Lover’s Challenge early for two reasons. For one, it may take participants a little longer to do and also because I’m exhausted!
We did a lot of yard work this weekend and we had company. My planter boxes are all stenciled and planted. They look super cute. The guys pulled a nasty bush out of our backyard and hauled it away to the dump. I figure a couple more weeks and we’ll have all the planting and clean up done. I will be excited to share pictures!
This week’s TLC is rather unique, if I do say so myself! The challenge is to make TWO cards. The cards must use the same focal point, same papers/colors, same embellishments/punches. Whatever you put on one, you must put on the other. You can use different sentiments as long as that is not the focal point. The kicker is, they have to be different!
Here is my first card:
This was a bit harder than I thought it would be. I kept track of what I was using and actually laid both cards out before I began assembling so that I didn’t miss anything.
Here is the second card:
It was actually a very cool thing to do as it really didn’t take me much longer to make both than it would take to make just one. All the supplies were already out!
Here they are together:
Here are my deets:
Stamps: JustRite Mother Nature’s Gifts, JustRite Happy Everything Tag Kit
Colors: GP White, Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow, Blush Blossom, Kaisercraft Secret Bird Society dp,
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics
Accessories: 1/4″ silk ribbon (champagne) , 1/2 pearls, scalloped border punch, circle nestabilities, ribbon threader punch, sticky tape, dimensionals, frosted lace stickles.
Most supplies provided by Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you’ll pop over to the Splitcoaststampers challenge forum and join in our fun!

Wow!! Holly, these are absolutely gorgeous!!!
You aced this challenge, Holly! Loving them both. Great ribbon treatment. Glad the yard and planters are looking good 🙂 We actually had some sunshine this weekend (gasp!!) but there was a very cold breeze so not too fun to be in, but I have managed to reclaim my flower beds in front and back yard 🙂 Now just have to wait for the temps to rise a bit so we can plant a few annuals. LOVE pops of colour all around the yard! Can’t wait to see your pictures!
Gorgeous cards….love the idea of the twins on SCS.
These are fantastic !!
I don’t know how you do it….
