Hi Friends!!

Happy Saturday!  You know that means Ribbon Inspiration time!

This week we’re focusing on ric rac!   Today’s hop winner will receive 1/2 yard of each ric rac carried in the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.   That’s a lot of ric rac!

If you’ve arrived here from Barb Schram‘s Blog, then you’re in the right spot.  If not, I suggest that you start back on Sharon Johnson’s blog.

Here’s my offering of fun for today:

I used two types of ric rac for my card…. 1″ grosgrain ric rac (brown) and 3/8″ velvet zig zag in natural.

I’m smitten with birdcages lately, so I had to create one to go with my card…

This was actually pretty simple to do.  I started with a medium sized nestability cirle and several 1/8″ strips of white cardstock.   I scored the end of the paper before I cut the strips and then adhered them to the bottom of the circle.  After I had them all on the circle, I covered it with a second circle (sandwiching the strips between.  A 3/8″ strip of designer paper wrapped around the bottom held the strips up straight while I affixed the bird on his perch.  Then I added another strip about 2″ up from the bottom and finally I created a cone for the top.   I put tacky glue in the cone and gathered the strips together and plopped it on top.   I decorated it with just a few details and done!

Here’s a pic of my card alone:

And a few details:

Stamps:  JustRite Stampers’ With Sympathy Clear set

Papers: GP White, Pretty in Pink, My Mind’s Eye Paris & Co.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, Versamark

Accessories: 1″ brown grosgrain ric rac,  3/8″ natural velvet zig zag, Kaisercraft 1/2 pearls (pink/bliss), JustRite Label Twenty Two Dies, needle and thread (to gather large ric rac), Prima flowers (fairytale roses used here, but any of the flowers in this category would work), white embossing powder, Aleene’s fast tack glue, dimensionals, sticky tape, stickles.

Great projects! The card is particularly beautiful, I really like how angling some of the elements seems to soften the whole effect.

    Hi Holly~

Wow, 2 Great Treats here today! I love the bird cage…I am amazed that someone made that by hand! I am in a bird and birdcage mindset lately, too.

Your card is gorgeous! I love how you used 2 different widths of ric rac. I never knew they came in a wider width…it looks wonderful layered! And, the flowers are colored beautifully…and I love the matching rose on the ric rac! So yummy!
