~Technique Challenge – Acrylic Distress~

Howdy, folks…
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. I can only say that the roller coaster of drama continues in the McMillen household. Sadly, I’m beginning to get use to it.
This week’s Technique Lover’s Challenge is called Acrylic Distress. The first time I saw the was at my local stamp store and it was quite intriguing. Then I found that Beate Johns had created a tutorial for this technique on Splitcoaststampers.com. You can view her tutorial (with video!) HERE.

The technique is a little time consuming, but I really love the way it came together.
I will suggest that if you do not have the acrylic daubers and decide to use acrylic paint, that you make sure your paint is a very thin but thorough coat. It takes about 1/2 hour for the paint to dry and it took me nearly that long to sand the layer off because I used a bit too much paint.
I also used the alcohol inkers instead of the distress pad. My distress pads are quite dry :(.

Stamps: There She Goes’ Sweet Pea
Colors: Vanilla, GP White, OA Modern Homemaker dp
Ink: Versafine Black Onyx, copics, Tim Holtz alcohol inks (terra cotta and butterscotch)
Accessories: 1/2″ green/yellow gingham ribbon, 1/2 pearls (butter), liquid pearls, sizzix damask embossing folder, nestabilities, oval punch, hole punch, dimensionals, sticky tape, sanding block, bright yellow acrylic paint, corner rounder.
