~ Mother’s Day ~
May 8th, 2017 by Holly McMillen
With Mother’s Day just a few days away, I didn’t think I’d have a need to make any Mother’s Day cards. My own mom passed in 1992 and my sweet mother-in-law passed in 2014. But, my hubby, sold one of his co-workers on giving handmade cards this year. So I have TWO for you today!
I’m really not expecting much from my own sons. You know the old saying that you teach people how to treat you. Well, I’ve never made anything special of Mother’s Day and now I’m sorry I did. Three of the four are married. No blood related grandkids yet, but we do have a 3 yr old step-grandchild. I am training my son to make it a priority so that Delilah knows what to expect when she grows up and has kids of her own.
First up is a pocket card. I fell in love with the new Flourished Frame Pocket dies. I see a great deal of potential with them!

The sentiment card pulls out for a nice interactive feature

Now, the inside sentiment was one I found online. I thought it was perfect!

I used:
JustRite Clear Stamps – Hugs and Kisses Sentiments
Simple Stories – Love & Adore 6″ x 6″
Spectrum Noir Ultrasmooth Premium White cardstock
1/4″ Silk Ribbon by May Arts
Spellbinders Circle Nestabilities
Spellbinders Flourished Frame Pocket
Kaisercraft – Rhinestones – Light Pink
Prima Optimist medium flower –
1/4″ Scortape
Altenew Ink Cube – Red Cosmos (Coral Berry)

My second card is much simpler and not as frilly. I always ask the questions (favorite color, frilly or not, religious or not)
Now, by some twist of fate, I had NO white 1/2 pearls. I wanted to use them. I substituted white brads, but if you’re going to make this card… use the pearls!

I love the sentiment on this one!
I used:
JustRite Clear – Hugs & Kisses Sentiments
Altenew – Beautiful You
Kaisercraft 6.5″ x 6.5″ Curiosity
1/4″ ScorTape
Memento Tuxedo Black Dye Ink
Thermoweb 3D Foam Squares – 1/4″ White
Spectrum Noir Ultrasmooth Premium White Cardstock
Suggest:
Melissa Frances Pearls – White

So, Happy Mother’s Day to the moms and to the daughters… spoil your mom! You don’t know how long you’ll have her!
Thanks for stopping by!
