~ That’s Odd ~
March 6th, 2011 by Holly McMillen
Greetings!
Would someone please tell me where the weekend went?! I’m pretty sure someone stole a bunch of hours right out from under me. Drats, foiled again.
We did enjoy some nice weather. It was not particularly sunny, but it was in the 50s, so no complaints here. The snow is arriving this evening and going to last until late afternoon Tuesday, but then it’s going to warm back up again. We have really had it easy this winter.
So I got to thinking about a challenge for this week’s Technique Lovers Challenge. I tend to make A2 cards more than anything else. So this week we’re going with odd shaped cards. As a *bonus* challenge, we’re to use something on the card that wouldn’t normally be used.
Now, I am very rusty from not stamping in so long, so what I pictured in my head and what I ended up with are not exactly the same :).
I used a clip art umbrella image that I manipulated in Microsoft word. I added a Nestability circle for my splishin and splashin birdies. I took the entire thing and traced it onto white cardstock to create the inside. Then I used a nut (my bonus piece) and large brad to make it swing open:
I also added a picture frame type kickstand on the back to make it stand up.

Here are my deets:
Stamps: There She Goes’ Under the Weather
Colors: GP White, Real Red
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, white gel pen
Accessories: Tiny red satin ribbon, circle nestabilities, nut, blue glitter glue, oval punch, dimensionals, large black brad, sticky tape

Thanks for stopping by!
Beyond adorable, Holly!!
What a cute little card! Love the image and the umbrella…genuis! Great idea to add a kick stand to make it stand.
