party-in-a-box.jpg  It’s Monday again! :)  Great start to a fab week!

Today’s Technique Lover’s challenge had my name written all over it.   The challenge was to make some 3 x 3’s, a box and matching envelopes.  I call this a party in a box!

I used my new “Here’s the Scoop” set by My Favorite Things.  It is a new set to be released on Wednesday June 4, 2008.   I was playing around with the ‘grid technique’ on this.   I was in the cellar and the computer was upstairs, so I couldn’t read instructions on how-to.  :)  So… being lazy, I just scored a sheet of paper every 1/2″ and turned it, scored the other way and punched out my scallops :).  Works for me!  I also scored the lid of my box, though it’s very hard to see.

I’m going to give this little box and cards to a friend of mine.  She loves to invite the girls over for different little get togethers.   Hopefully, I’ll be invited to the next one ;) .

For measurements on the box, please see this post:

sweet-box-and-card.jpg  Oh happy day!

Today’s Technique Lover’s Challenge was a fun one.   The challenge was to pick a former TLC, CC and SC and combine them into one project/card.   Here’s what I chose:

Technique Lover’s Challenge #103 ( 4 x 4’s or similar size cards in a set)

Sketch Challenge 83 - no set layout.. object was to use circles.

Color Challenge 52A (Gable Green, Ruby Red, Night of Navy, Only Orange!!)

I did have to make one substitution and use Green Galore instead of Gable Green as I have no Gable Green.

I decided since I was making the little cards (they are 3.5 x 3.5) that I would make one of my boxes to hold them.  This box measures 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 inches square.  I’ll be happy to post measurements, but it is basically my same box that i usually make, with measurement adjustments, of course!

Here’s my deets:

Stamps:  Tart & Tangy and So Very (sweet) by Stampin’ Up!

Colors: Ruby Red, Night of Navy, Only Orange, Green Galore and Summer picnic DPs

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Only Orange, Green Galore

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, scallop punch, circle punches, embossing folder, scissors, sticky tape

TFL!~  and have a blessed day!

jenn-ds-bag.jpg   Happy Monday, Ya’ll!

Today’s Technique Lover’s Challenge was to create this bag designed by Jenn D.  You can find the tutorial here.

I adjusted the measurements slightly (scoring at 4″, 5″ and 6″) to create a larger base for my bag.   Her tutorial was easy peasy and fun to do.. give it a try!   Oh, one note of caution… if you’re using Dp with a pattern going in a certain way, make sure you do that first scoring at the top/bottom of your paper so it will show the pattern right when you’re done.  My first attempt had my apple paper going in the wrong direction! doh!

I intend on filling this little bag with as many 3×3’s that I can and giving it to my friend, Darcy.

Here’s my deets:

Stamps: Tart n Tangy by SU!, sentiment by Hambo stamps (www.hambostamps.com)

Colors: Wild Wasabi, Gp White, Pumpkin Pie, Summer picnic Dps

Ink: Wild Wasabi, white gel pen

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, scallop punches, oval punch, designer label punch, hole punch, hph oval clip

TFL!~ and have a blessed day!

serenity-now-minis.jpg  Today’s Limited Supply Challenge on SCS is simply to use scraps and make a card 4.25 x 4.25 or smaller.   Well, I love Jen’s challenges, but I’m not so sure this one was specific enough for me.. heehee..  I ended up making 4 minis and a box to hold them…. all from scraps!

I don’t know about you, but I need to do this challenge weekly if not more.  I have so many scraps!  I don’t throw anything away that I could possibly punch something out of or at least fit in my cutter to trim.  We’re talking all the way down to 2″ scraps.   All my scraps are organized by my son, Levi.   Every week, it’s his job to put my scraps in their proper bag according to color family.  He does a great job!  Now I need to use them more!

And since these little 3 x 3 cards were so quick to make, I made a box again… lol.   I think it would make a nice little set for a friend of mine who is always getting her friends together.   In fact, I have to go work with her in an hour or so, so I think I will finish off the inside of the cards and bring them to her :).

Here’s my deets:

Stamps: Serenity Now by My Favorite Things (www.mftstamps.com)

Colors: Basic Black, GP White, Real Red, Pretty in Pink

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Copics

Accessories: Brads, ribbon, dimensionals, word window punch, swiss dots EF*

* I’m sorry Judy, I know I said I would give it a rest, and I did yesterday, but I NEEDED it again this morning :)

TFL!~ and have a blessed day

Thanks, Marisa, for bringing to my attention that it’s FRIDAY and I need a sketch!  I have been so busy today, I nearly forgot!

I will put one together within a couple hours and have it posted!!   Sorry, girls!  Life gets in the way sometimes :)

little-lamb-box-and-cards.jpg  Ok, this is my last MFTeaser for the night.   Another box, you say!?  Yup!  I had make a miniature one to hold 3 x 3 note cards.  At first, I was thinking of shower thanks yous, but decided after I was finished that it looks little girlish.  I have a grandneice who is 6 yrs old and quite the little social butterfly.   I think she’d get kick out of these little cards she can give to her little friends.  Who knows, maybe i’ll make a stamper out of her one of these days!

All I did for my miniature version was to scale down my previous box.  If you want the exact measurements for the mini box …..

mini-box-measurements.JPG  This will just give you measurements.  You will need to follow my regular box tutorial for assembly.

Here’s my deets:

Stamps: My Favorite Things’ Punch a Bunch, Baby First

Colors: Barely Banana, Pretty In Pink, GP White

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, copics

Accessories: Brads, ribbon, dimensionals. Swiss dots EF, scallop punch, word window punch, scoring blade, sticky tape, circle punch, hole punch

toyzhaven-box-tutorial-001.jpg  What you will need:

                                    2 pieces of cardstock cut 7 1/2 x 7 1/4 inches

                                      (for the box)

                                    1 piece of coordinating cardstock cut 6 1/4  x  3 5/8 inches

                                      (for lid)

                                   1 piece of coordinating cardstock 8 1/2 x 1 inch

                                      (for strap)

                                   2  1 inch circles (optional)

                                   2 brads

                                   sticky tape

                                   cutter

                                   scoring blade

Assorted cardstock / images for decorating

toyzhaven-box-tutorial-002.jpg   Step 1:  Score your box pieces at 1 1/2 inches on each of the 7 1/2 inch sides.  Score again at 1 1/2 inches on the 7 1/4 inch side.

toyzhaven-box-tutorial-003.jpg  Step 2:  Cut along the scorelines on both pieces as shown.  (Note: it’s better to cut UP from the bottom as this will reinforce the bottom of your box).

toyzhaven-box-tutorial-004.jpg  Step 3:  This is important!  On the piece you designate as the back piece (you choose), you will want o cut a 1/16 inch strip off the top (the side that isn’t scored) as this will ensure that the box fits snuggly together and lines up properly.

toyzhaven-box-tutorial-005.jpg   Step 4:  Apply sticky tape to the flaps and fold under to make each 1/2 box.

toyzhaven-box-tutorial-006.jpg  Step 5:  Line the 3 inside edges of the front piece with sticky tape and slide them together.  I position the pieces together so they line up properly, then smooth them out from the inside.

toyzhaven-box-tutorial-007.jpg Step 6:  Score your box top piece at 1 inch on all four sides.

toyzhaven-box-tutorial-008.jpg  Step 7:  Cut corners to create flaps as shown.  Apply adhesive and assemble.

toyzhaven-box-tutorial-009.jpg  Step 8:  Assemble strap as shown and affix to box with a brad.  This allows the strap to swivel… making it easy to remove the box lid.    (Ignore the black cardstock here.. I just used it so you could see what I was doing :) )

toyzhaven-box-tutorial-010.jpg  Step 9: Decorate your box!

for-the-bride-box.jpg   That’s it!  Happy creating :)

Deets on this box:

Stamps: Wild Rose DD, Fancy Flexible Phrases

Colors: Basic Black, Real Red, GP White, Chocolate Chip, Infuse DP

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Regal Rose, Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Old Olive

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, scallop circle punches, oval punches, birds & swirls EF, scoring blade

punch-a-bunch-box.JPG Ok, I have a confession to make.  I said I wasn’t going to do any challenges this week due to my busy schedule, but I needed this project done this morning and I didn’t have a clue what colors to use, so I snuck in a challenge :).

Today’s Color Challenge is to use Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranate and So Saffron.  I’m loving this combo!  It has a springy feel to it… which is perfect for my Punch a Bunch flowers.

Maybe I need to make a second confession.  When I first saw this Punch a Bunch set from My Favorite Things (www.mftstamps.com), I was scared of it.  I don’t own any scallop punches and it first appears that you NEED them, but you really don’t!   I’ve been using my Cricut to make the ovals and the sentiments can be manipulated to fit circle punches as well :).  Such a versatile little set!

I wanted to make a box (see this post for instructions)..  I intend to fill it with thank you cards (it will fit up to six cards) and send it off to a friend who has been ubber generous to me.

Here’s the deets:

Stamps:  Punch A Bunch and Essential Sentiments from My Favorite Things

Colors: Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranate, So Saffron, GP White, Certainly Celery Designer DP

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, Purely Pomegranate

Accessories: Brads, ribbon, dimensionals, Cricut (ovals), black art pen for faux stitches

TFL!~ and have a blessed day!

because-youre-sweet-closeup.jpgbecause-youre-sweet.jpg  Today was a triple challenge day for me.  The SCS Color Challenge, my personal challenge to use this set, and the need for a little gift for a dear friend.

So, I made another little box.  This one is a bit different than my original, but the same concept.  I just sized it down to hold these two bags of M&Ms.   The chair is paper pieced with the same DP as I used as a mat.  It’s a target find.  I added little brown accents to my piece to pick up the brown in the DP.

I made this with My Favorite Things’ For the Boys set.  (www.mftstamps.com)  I really like this set for the guys in my life.  They’re all sport fans and this scene is often played out in our house.  I purposely hide the remote!

Stamps:  My Favorite Things’ For the Boys

Colors: Blue Bayou, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky, Target find DP.

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Copics

Accessories: Brads, ribbon, scallop punches, oval punch, word window punch, circle punch, dimensionals

youre-a-blast.jpg  This is another version of my little box.. now with a lid.  I made this for WT149 on SCS.  The challenge was to get out our embossing powders.   I haven’t done  alot of heat embossing in a long time.  This was actually quite fun  to make.  The box is made from 2 pieces of cardstock, each measuring 7.5 and 7.25 inches.  Score at 1.5 and 4 on the 7.5″ side and 1.5″ on the 7.25″ side.  Two little snips on each piece and it folds up very easily.  When each side is complete, just slide them together.  Makes for a nice sturdy little box.  The lid is made from a piece cut 7 3/8th x  4 7/8th (scored 1.25″ from each side.  Cut the small score on each long side and fold.  I’ve actually fit 6 cards and envelopes in one and ya know my cards are chunky.  The piece designated as my front was first rolled with the Stars and Swirls wheel in versamark and embossed in white.  The space ship was stamped, colored and embossed with UTEE  to give it shine.

Stamps:  Pun Fun and Stars and Swirls wheel/retired  (Stampin’ UP!)

Colors:  Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, GP White, Basic Grey Lollipop Shoppe

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Versamark, Copics

Accesories: Scoring blade, Scallop punches, scissors, UTEE, White embossing powder, slit punch, circle punch, brads, dimensionals.

Paper:  Cool Caribbean, Real Red, Basic Black, GP White

Ink: VersaFine Red, Versafine White, Brilliance Graphite Black, Cool Caribbean
