Good Friday!

Thankfully, today’s Limited Supply challenge was an easy peasy one.   Even with the layer restrictions!  I think I may be getting better (not much) at minimalizing layers.   When I read the title of the challenge “Break out the Sunscreen”, I knew exactly what stamps I wanted to use as they have been sitting at my elbow for the last several weeks :)   My hambos!

Not much ’splaining to do here.  Image colored with copics and the rest is all scraps!   I even found a little tiny piece of orange stitched ribbon that was about to go in the trash when I decided to add it to the card :).

When  Judy (StampingQueenJAR) contacted me about doing a sample for her Limited Supply Challenge,  I didn’t quite know what I was  getting myself into….. limited is NOT my middle name, you know.

Today’s challenge is all about the 4th.   We were to use patriotic colors, only 4 layers, 4 embellies/tools… well you get the picture.   I had the toughest time with the 4 layers deal..lol.   The first layer/background was created with Hambo’s hamburger stamp… stamped randomly and colored. 

What a great day it’s going to be!  We have a bbq  this afternoon with lots of fun food and friends.   We will also be celebrating the return of our ‘adopted’  son…. he’s finally home from his mission trip and to  top that, we’re looking forward to the return of our other ‘adopted’ son  from Iraq this week!    Mama’s happy!

Today’s Limited Supply challenge was to make a ‘Silly Celebrations’ card/project.   I found out, through THIS site, that June 23rd is National PINK Day!   We love pink, don’t we?

Perfect opportunity to make a baby card.   I just purchased this new baby set from A Muse.  I have a few friends that are pregnant, but they’re all having boys!    What’s with people wanting to know the sex before it’s born lately?   I thought the whole fun of it was in the suprise.. just me.

Today’s Limited Supply Challenge was to make a trio of cards, using the same stamps sets, sentiment set, colors, etc.. all with different layouts.   I really felt like doing some ‘americana’ colored/theme cards, so here you go.  I may have pushed the limits of ‘limited’ a bit, but that was not mentioned in the challenge.  The funny part is, I made all three cards and don’t really love any of them.  I do love the colors.. just not thrilled with my outcome.

Probably because I’m not feeling up to par this morning.   For some reason that happens every so often when I eat shrimp or other seafood for dinner.  I wake up the next day with a rash and a headache.  Guess what?  We went to Red Lobster for dinner last night and I of course, ate SHRIMP.   I’m an idiot.  Should have known better.

Anywho, for better or worse, I’m posting these.  The one in the middle is going to be today’s sketch challenge….. here it is:

  Happy Saturday

 I’m a hunting widow this morning.  DH awoke at 4am (I was already awake) and we had coffee together before he headed out.  It was so quiet in the house! :)  He asked if I was going back to bed, then added “Not likely if you get on that computer”.  I hate it when he’s right..lol.   I jumped online and caught the inspiration challenge.  You can view it here.

I was immediately drawn to the first photo.  The greens and creams and browns are so gorgeous and rich.   Since I chose to go with rich colors, I decided I was going to keep it simple and tidy.   The old olive layer is 1/2 embossed with Swiss Dots.  The flower and pot are cut out and popped on dimensionals.   I didn’t even want a bow, so I went with a little buckle for accent.  I added the handwritten sentiment as I’m sending this to my brother and his wife who have moved to Texas just a few months ago.  I really miss my bro!!

Today’s Limited Supply challenge was to use only Alphabet stamps for your sentiment.. no other sentiment allowed.   Well, I took the opportunity to pull out some old favorites to make my DH a father’s day card from the boys.   I used Headline alphabet for the D and then Karen Foster snap stamps for the ‘dad’ tag.   That’s about the limits of my alphabet stamps, too! LOL  Hey, I even left out a layer just so it looks ‘limited’ for me.. 

We’re also going to use this sketch for this week’s sketch challenge! (THSC13).

  Wow!  I can’t believe it’s Friday again!  The week has flown by.  I’m still quite busy with gathering preparations, but took  time out this morning to do a sketch for ya’ll (THSC10) and to cover a couple of SCS challenges as well.

My card is 4″ x 8″ and fits in a standard business envelope.   I was looking for a way to use some smaller or longer stamps with this layout and of course, went for my Hambos again.   Today’s LSC challenge is to make a tall or long card.  I also used acrylic buttons to cover yesterday’s WT challenge.

Now for a blast from my past….. I was looking up my high school’s reunion webpage the other day and found my senior picture!

   We are planning our 30th high school reunion in 2010…. I better get busy if I want to look anything like I did back then! LOL

  Today’s Limited Supply Challenge on SCS is simply to use scraps and make a card 4.25 x 4.25 or smaller.   Well, I love Jen’s challenges, but I’m not so sure this one was specific enough for me.. heehee..  I ended up making 4 minis and a box to hold them…. all from scraps!

I don’t know about you, but I need to do this challenge weekly if not more.  I have so many scraps!  I don’t throw anything away that I could possibly punch something out of or at least fit in my cutter to trim.  We’re talking all the way down to 2″ scraps.   All my scraps are organized by my son, Levi.   Every week, it’s his job to put my scraps in their proper bag according to color family.  He does a great job!  Now I need to use them more!

And since these little 3 x 3 cards were so quick to make, I made a box again… lol.   I think it would make a nice little set for a friend of mine who is always getting her friends together.   In fact, I have to go work with her in an hour or so, so I think I will finish off the inside of the cards and bring them to her :).

  Good Morning!  What a challenging day this has proved to be already and it’s only slightly past 7am!  First, I slept like a rock last night (something I rarely do), so getting up was a task.  Getting my boys moving seemed to be just slightly easier until my 15 yr old came to me with a wrecked knee.   He hurt it in gym yesterday and didn’t tell anyone.   I’m always like “what test are you suppose to be taking today?”  LOL.. I just know my kids.. they will do/say whatever it takes to get a break.   That puts a bit of a kink in my plans for this morning, too… as now I’ll need to run him to the doc to make sure he hasn’t done any real damage.  Kids, gotta love them!

I got a look at Jen’s Limited Supply Challenge for this morning and went “Whaaaaaat?”  This was quite challenging, too.  Not so bad on the limitations, but which flower to pick! :)   If you’re like me, you have a zillion flower images.   I chose My Favorite Things’ Boho Blossoms.   I think I pulled colors from a card I’d seen on SCS… can’t remember, but the combo has been in my head for awhile, so I went with it.  I did limit my layers and kept the embellishments to a minimum.

This is also going to serve as this week’s sketch challenge!  It will be THSC6.

 Oh, on a final note, I had a personal challenge to do all the SCS challenges for the month of February… well, this is the final one!  I did it!   Sadly though, I will be taking a few days off from challenges starting early next week as I have a ton of design team stamping to do.  Good news is,  My Favorite Things’ March releases come out on the 5th, so there will be lots of time to stamp after that!

  Oh my.. a limited challenge… Our limits for this morning’s Limited Supply Challenge is to use our own handwriting in our design.  I’ve been doing alot of that lately.   I also can’t seem to get my fill of Pun Fun.   I think this has to be the most versatile little set that SU! has come out with in a long time.   The sentiments that come with the set are adorable, but I separated them from the images so I could use other sentiments as well. 

Of course, we had to limit layers, embellies and tools used.   Sooooo, I skipped a few of my normal layers.. To give the illusion of more layers, I popped the ‘heart’ layer on dimensionals.   The ‘dp’ is white GP cardstock stamped randomly with the heart from small saying.  I added a few ‘hot’ words, in my handwriting.  The image is stamped and colored with copic markers.  I popped the little heart on there, just cause.   The sentiment is also in my own handwriting.  

The layout I used today is simple.. and we’re going to use it for today’s THSC5.   Here it is:
