call-me-mft.jpg   Happy Monday, Ya’ll

Today’s Technique Lover’s Challenge was to make a suspension card.  I have to admit, I’ve done things like this before, but never on a card and it was harder for me than I thought it would be.   Instead of taking two pictures, I will just tell you the other side of my suspended sentiment says “Let’s Talk”.

I thought of a good scs friend that just moved when I made this card.  We have met once when she was living nearby, but now she has moved most of the way across the country, so I want to send her a card to encourage her to CALL ME!

This set (MFT’s Call me) is new this month!  This little mini set is perfect for all those girlfriends we like to talk on the phone with!  I love internet chat, but nothing compares to a good phone chat :)

It’s going to be a busy few weeks for me while I shuttle one son to summer school and another two to work and back.  I may go MIA for a day or two, but I’ll be back! :)

Here’s my deets:

Stamps:  My Favorite Things’ Call Me  (www.mftstamps.com)

Colors: Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery, Cool Caribbean, GP White

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, copics, white gel pen, black gel pen, Tim Holtz’ walnut distressing ink

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, 1 3/4″ punch, 1 1/2″ punch, floss, sticky tape, stipple brush

well-spent-thanks.jpg   Happy Monday, Ya’ll

Today’s Technique Lover’s Challenge was to use reinkers/ink pads to color your image.  I must admit, I’ve only tried this once before and I need a tutorial or something because it just looks wrong to me.   Although, I did use watercolor paper and I kinda like the way it looks, I had to put a bit of glitter glue in the middle of the flower as it was a mess. LOL  I duplicated the glitter glue on the butterfly’s wings.

Where have I been, you ask.   I took the weekend ‘off’, to get my affairs in order.   Life has thrown us a few curveballs lately and I was trying to juggle them…. leading to a near breakdown, but I got it under control and I’m just giving those curveballs to my Lord and Savior.  They’ll know what to do with ‘em ;)

Here’s my deets:

Stamps: Time Well Spent, make it count (both SU!)

Colors: Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Basic Gray Blush DP

Ink:  Brilliance Graphite Black, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Rose Red,

Accessories: ribbon, HPH clip, scissors, paintbrush, slit punch, glitter glue

TFL!~ and have a blessed day!

shimmery-birthday-wishes.jpg  Happy Monday, Ya’ll

Today’s technique challenge (shimmer and glimmer) kinda stumped me since I have no Perfect Pearls.  So, I got a little creative and used Pearlescent watercolors (silver), water and real red reinker.   We (my son is off today) sat here mixing the concoction for a good bit before we could finally get the silver specs to show up in the mist, but it worked!

Photography was a whole nother story,  I took 8 pictures and not one really shows the shimmer, so I guess you’re just going to have to take my word for it…. or ya’ll  can drop by and take a look :)

The main image was stamped in Versamark on Real Red, embossed in black detail, then colored with more pearlescent watercolors.  The whole thing really shines.  The 2nd and 3rd layers are on dimensionals, this creativing the inverted sentiment.

Here’s my deets:

Stamps: Cherry Blossoms by Rubber Stampede, Circle of Friendship by SU!

Colors: Real Red, Basic Black, Glossy White

Ink: White Craft, Versamark, Red reinker, pearlescent watercolors

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, paper piercing tools, circle punches, waterbottle, black EP

party-in-a-box.jpg  It’s Monday again! :)  Great start to a fab week!

Today’s Technique Lover’s challenge had my name written all over it.   The challenge was to make some 3 x 3’s, a box and matching envelopes.  I call this a party in a box!

I used my new “Here’s the Scoop” set by My Favorite Things.  It is a new set to be released on Wednesday June 4, 2008.   I was playing around with the ‘grid technique’ on this.   I was in the cellar and the computer was upstairs, so I couldn’t read instructions on how-to.  :)  So… being lazy, I just scored a sheet of paper every 1/2″ and turned it, scored the other way and punched out my scallops :).  Works for me!  I also scored the lid of my box, though it’s very hard to see.

I’m going to give this little box and cards to a friend of mine.  She loves to invite the girls over for different little get togethers.   Hopefully, I’ll be invited to the next one ;) .

For measurements on the box, please see this post:

Here are my deets:

Stamps:  Here’s the Scoop by My Favorite Things

Colors: Bliss Blue, Night of Navy, GP White, Jersey Shore DPs

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Real Red, Copics

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, sticky tape, scoring blade, oval scallop punch, scissors.

sweet-box-and-card.jpg  Oh happy day!

Today’s Technique Lover’s Challenge was a fun one.   The challenge was to pick a former TLC, CC and SC and combine them into one project/card.   Here’s what I chose:

Technique Lover’s Challenge #103 ( 4 x 4’s or similar size cards in a set)

Sketch Challenge 83 - no set layout.. object was to use circles.

Color Challenge 52A (Gable Green, Ruby Red, Night of Navy, Only Orange!!)

I did have to make one substitution and use Green Galore instead of Gable Green as I have no Gable Green.

I decided since I was making the little cards (they are 3.5 x 3.5) that I would make one of my boxes to hold them.  This box measures 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 inches square.  I’ll be happy to post measurements, but it is basically my same box that i usually make, with measurement adjustments, of course!

Here’s my deets:

Stamps:  Tart & Tangy and So Very (sweet) by Stampin’ Up!

Colors: Ruby Red, Night of Navy, Only Orange, Green Galore and Summer picnic DPs

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Only Orange, Green Galore

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, scallop punch, circle punches, embossing folder, scissors, sticky tape

TFL!~  and have a blessed day!

jenn-ds-bag.jpg   Happy Monday, Ya’ll!

Today’s Technique Lover’s Challenge was to create this bag designed by Jenn D.  You can find the tutorial here.

I adjusted the measurements slightly (scoring at 4″, 5″ and 6″) to create a larger base for my bag.   Her tutorial was easy peasy and fun to do.. give it a try!   Oh, one note of caution… if you’re using Dp with a pattern going in a certain way, make sure you do that first scoring at the top/bottom of your paper so it will show the pattern right when you’re done.  My first attempt had my apple paper going in the wrong direction! doh!

I intend on filling this little bag with as many 3×3’s that I can and giving it to my friend, Darcy.

Here’s my deets:

Stamps: Tart n Tangy by SU!, sentiment by Hambo stamps (www.hambostamps.com)

Colors: Wild Wasabi, Gp White, Pumpkin Pie, Summer picnic Dps

Ink: Wild Wasabi, white gel pen

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, scallop punches, oval punch, designer label punch, hole punch, hph oval clip

TFL!~ and have a blessed day!

stipple-anniversary.jpg  Happy Monday!  I trust that all you mothers had a fabulous Mother’s day!

I didn’t get to stamp all weekend as we spent the time with my MIL in Pennsylvania.   She just got out of the hospital (degenerative disk disease).  When I saw this morning’s challenge (combine embossing with watercoloring) I geeked!  I really have NO experience with watercoloring… don’t even own gamsol.   I know.. that’s a shame, huh?!   Well, I persevered and got the prismas out… used a blending pen and some mineral spirit fixative stuff that i found.  I was pleasantly suprised at how well it came out… even considering I was on the phone the whole time with Ann (SCS’s abmurray)!

Ok, now for the funny part…. DH comes to me this weekend and he asks if I would make a card with my favorite set and favorite colors….. why?  Our anniversary is coming and he refuses to BUY cards for me..lol.  So…. THiS is MY anniversary card! teehee.

Here’s my deets:

Stamps: Stipple Rose (retired SU!); sentiment by Verve Visual

Colors: Watercolor white, Purely Pomegranate

Ink: Versamark, Brilliance Graphite Black, prismas

Accessories: brads, ribbon, xacto knife, dimensionals, paper piercing tools

TFL!~ and have a blessed day!

tlc-diorama-card.jpg  This is a three-fer today!  Not only did I get the challenge done, I used my new My Favorite Things’ stamps (Going Places) and I used up scraps to make it!  Woohoo!!

This is a diorama card.  The tutorial can be found here.   When I first read the instructions, I thought “no way”.  But I read them again and boy is this ever an easy little cutie to make!  It only took me about 10 minutes to put together once I had my idea and images stamped.   The hardest part was getting that pesky red liner off the sticky tape! LOL

This new set (Going Places) is so adorable.  It’s a big set packed with travelling fun!  You gotta check it out, but you can’t see the rest until Wednesday’s release! Ha!  Sorry :D.   There will be a release party on Wednesday evening in the member forums.   I’ll be giving more deets on that later.

Here’s today’s DEETS!:

Stamps:  Going Places by My Favorite Things’  (www.mftstamps.com)

Colors: Chocolate Chip, GP White, Cameo Coral and Cosmo Cricket DPs

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Craft White, copics

Accessories: brads, ribbon, dimensionals, scissors, 1 3/8″ circle punch and 1 1/2″ circle punch.

TFL!~ and have a blessed day!

black-eye-susan-ty.jpg   Good day!  Well, today was DH’s first day back to work.  I am celebrating by stamping all day :).  I love ribbon, so today’s TLC was right up my alley.

I have to tell you, it felt strange to stamp this morning without DH hovering over me.  I actually felt relaxed and enjoyed what I was doing.  I won’t tell him that though… lol.  I’m working on a new Hambo sample for later today….. can’t wait to get that done, but first, I must start cutting paper for our upcoming SCS gathering!  19 days and counting!!!  It will be my first gathering and I am so psyched to stamp with other awesome stampers.

Have you been to a SCS gathering yet?  If so, tell me about it!  I hear they are a blast :)

Here’s my deets on today’s TLC card:

Stamps: Image by Rubbernecker Stamps, sentiment from Fancy Flexible Phrases (SU!)

Colors: Basic Black, Yo Yo Yellow, GP White

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, Copics

Accessories: brads, ribbons, dimensionals, scissors, oval punches

TFL!~ and have a blessed day!

happy-mudders-day.jpg Happy Tuesday!!!!  I’m so glad to be able to post today!  I was without access to my blog and e-mail the last few days, and it was tough!  But alas, I’m back and today is a Hambo day!!! Yay!!

For a quick catch up…. DH is still unemployed.  Things are getting rough, but we’re tough people and I’m sure we’ll be fine.  I want to thank all of you who have been keeping us in your prayers.  They’re obviously working, as we still have food and a roof over our head.  Thank God!

I actually made this card yesterday for the TLC, but couldn’t get a picture (no light) until this morning.   You know I love to cut things out, so I thoroughly enjoyed making this colorful card.   The duck’s beak and feet are cut out twice and layered on with dimensionals.  I used the colors from the Summer Picnic DPs.  After I finished, I realize there are flowers in the DP, but I still think it fits the challenge.

Here are my deets:

Stamps:  All Hambo (www.hambostamps.com)

Colors: Real Red, Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Only Orange, Summer Picnic DP

Ink: Brilliance Graphite Black, copics, white gel pen

Accessories: white brads, ribbon, scissors, dimensionals, scalloped circle punches

I’ve decided that since I didn’t post a sketch challenge on Friday, I’m going to go ahead and post this sketch (THSC8) as last week’s challenge.

Here it is:
