A The Wonder of Christmas header

Today we’re celebrating new Christmas stamps/dies at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  So much beauties and amazing sentiments to match.

There’s been some discussion on Facebook within one of my groups about themed Christmas trees.  I lived the majority of my life with the traditional tree that consisted of ornaments my kids had made with a menagerie of odd stuff.  About 15 years ago, I switched to a red/gold tree.  It was covered in bows and matchy matchy ornaments.  About six years ago I went to teal/blue/white.  Last year…. Purple!

A Purple tree

Hubby just asked me if I was changing colors this year.  Uh, no.  I’m going to get at least 3 years out of the purple.  Then it might be Yellow and Black!!  (Yay, Steelers!!)

~ Pumpkins and Spice ~

A Pumpkin Spice header

I can’t wait to have some pumpkin (pie, spice coffee, whatever).. It’s a huge favorite as it goes hand and hand with Autumn… my favorite time of year.

Yesterday, we made the announcement that our first granddaughter is due in January.  Her name is Kaleo Athena McMillen and I cannot wait to meet her!  She has a big sister, born to her mom and a previous boyfriend.  We’ve already adopted her as a granddaughter.  Her birthday is the same as mine!!

This week it’s all fall.  Pumpkins, spice and everything nice!

~ The Silent Snowflake ~

Silent Night header 2

Christmas is barreling down on me like a freight train.  I have many other things to celebrate before, but if I don’t start my Christmas crafts/cards now, then I’ll be hurting in December.

Each year I do several snowflake cards.  One will be pink, one brown/tan, and a blue/white combo.  I’ve been doing this for several years and my card recipients are now expecting the same.  I spoil my snowflake lovin’ friends.

Oh!  Off subject.  Levi (my youngest son), his fiance Kalika, and her daughter, Delilah, did a gender reveal photo shoot this weekend.  I’ll be able to share that with you all very soon!!!

~*~*~*~

I used stickles all over the blue snowflake, and a bit on other snow flakes in the background.

~ Fall Triptych ~

Fall Tryptich header

I’m going to step back into fall for a minute.  I was just playing with some watercolor paper and this is what happened.  I will fully admit that I was inspired by a card I came across on Pinterest.  I didn’t save it, but the triptych idea stuck in my head.

I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that Christmas is just a few weeks away (16).  In the meantime, I have a baby shower to plan and pull off.  I have several other projects to fit in, too.  My studio is getting major love.

This week…

fall tryptich R2

I do so love using vanilla cardstock over premium white, especially with these warm colors

~*~*~*~

Another thing I love using is seam binding.   There are so many colors available and they are so easy to work with.  I especially love that you can puff them up or leave them flat and they look good either way.

~ With Sympathy ~

Sympathy header

The thing that bothers me the most about getting older (55 this year), is that I need cards for sad reasons more and more.  This week, a co-worker of my husband lost his mom.

At the same time, some of my sympathy cards are the prettiest I’ve made.  When ISN’T black and white classy?  The font (I know I harp on that) on these new Stamp Simply Clear Stamps is just so elegant.

So our hearts are with our friend and his family.  Too much sadness this week.  I’m ready for a bubbly happy laughter filled week, next week!

~*~*~*~

Sympathy R2

Super simple, here.  Those flowers make the statement.  I sugared them up with some stickles because every card deserves some bling :).

~ Unique Sunflower ~

Sunflower dos header

I have to admit that I don’t know much about flowers.  I love coloring them, but almost never know what color would be appropriate.  Then one day I just threw my hands up and declared that my flowers will be whatever color I need them to be!

I’ve learned a lot about flowers thanks to Google, but I still feel comforted by the fact that with today’s cross breeding and such, there really could be a teal centered sunflower.

~*~*~*~

Sunflower dos R1

This one was made especially for my daughter-in-love, Kalika.  She loves sunflowers!  And, she is a very unique girl.  Love her so much!  By the way, she’s the one that’s pregnant with our grandbaby due in January.  Her birthday is next month.

~*~*~*~

Sunflower dos closeup

I remember the sunflowers in California as being like 6ft tall and heads about 12″ in diameter.  When the seeds start to fall out, the almost explode.

~ Harvest Orange ~

Harvest header

I’ve pretty much declared RED as my favorite color my entire life.  Something has been happening over the last few years…. I’ve been falling in love with orange.

Today I crossed the new love of orange with some browns and greens.  And then there’s Gingham.  I truly had a blast putting this together.

~*~*~*~

Harvest R2

The brownish designer paper ( ), looks like an old sack.  The orange piece of designer paper bring a little class.  And of course that bow!  The Bow Easy is my friend.

~ Shaker Rose ~

Shaker Rose header

Greetings!

I’ve got to tell you, I’m so far ahead in my projects for The Stamp Simply Ribbon store that I’m forgetting which post goes when and etc.  It’s a great kind of conundrum! :)

I’ve only made less than a handful of shaker cards in my days and I honestly never thought I was very good at them.  I feel much better about the one I did today.  I might actually be getting the hang of it!

Let’s get right to it!

~*~*~*~

Shaker Rose R2

So, I used embossing folders for the first time in near forever.  I’ve been trying to keep things real easy, but dang it… I miss the embossing.  It’s not hard.

~ Deck The Halls ~

Deck the Halls header 1

Ok, it’s mid-August.  I’ve not started my Christmas shopping.  I’ve barely scratched the surface of making a supplies list for Christmas crafting.  I’m really hoping I have a VERY productive week so that I can make my goals.  I really have always been one to work well under pressure.   And I’m definitely goal driven.

So, another Christmas card this week.  I had little to do with the design.  It just “happened”.  I certainly had a totally different idea in mind, but the card took over.  I kind of like when that happens.  I always give the Glory to God.. especially in those situations.

~*~*~*~

Deck the Halls L2

The wood simulated paper is so pretty and has a humorous affect with the sentiment “DECK the halls”.  Yeah, my hubby got a kick out of that.

~ North Star ~

North Star header 2

Oh yes.  I’ve made my first Christmas card.  I’ll probably be fried for it, but only crafters understand why we start months ahead.  I’ve not only got cards to make, but many gifts, too.  I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to Christmas crafts.

I have 2 new family members this Christmas, too… and they like to craft!  I’ve been waiting many years for this.  Come January, I’ll be adding another!

So, with making cards, making gifts and decor, and I forgot to mention that I’m putting together a baby shower on top of that…. I’m going to be a busy busy girl.  That’s perfect for me.

~*~*~*~

North Star R1

This one is super easy.  A little coloring and layering and done.  Very different from what I’m generally known for, but I do like it a lot.

~*~*~*~

At the risk of repeating myself, I have to say again that these dies are so simple to line up and they cut like buttah.  I encourage you to give them a try.
